It’s time to get creative, Clarksville! If you’ve been looking for an artistic outlet, there’s no better moment to check out the studio renaissance that’s blooming all over the city. Whether you’re a painter, a potter, a photographer, or just eager to learn, here a few places to hone your skills.
Horsefeathers Pottery & Art Studio
It’s the colorful locally owned business with the funny name – Horsefeathers has something for everyone. (Quite literally; the studio describes its Toddler Time classes as being for “ages newborn and up.”) You can find a full schedule of events, including canvas classes, wooden board classes, and pottery classes, on the studio’s Facebook calendar here. 94 Franklin St.; 931/802-8282
Swirlz Art Studio
Swirlz offers canvas painting classes with a professional instructor guiding students until they have a completed piece of custom art to take home. Because teachers are on hand to help, painters of all skill levels will have pieces to be proud of. Check out the class list view, with options for beginners (look for those that include a pre-sketched canvas) and couples, at this link. 329 Warfield Blvd.; 931/320-9647
Simple Strokes Art Studio
Painting parties, photography classes, and even a “Paint Until You Faint” summer camp are all on the schedule at Simple Strokes, an entrepreneurial effort founded by Austin Peay alum Ean Pemberton. Pemberton’s mission includes a dedication to art therapy for at-risk youth, which adds to the studio’s big-hearted feeling. See the calendar of events here. 30 Crossland Ave.; 931/444-7152
Downtown Artists Co-op (DAC)
Started by a small group of artists looking to open a gallery in historic downtown Clarksville, DAC now comprises 27 artist members and 16 consignment members, plus the more than 50 patrons who support them. The studio hosts exhibits, events, and workshops throughout the year; browse the diverse classes available here. 96 Franklin St.; 931/919-3770
