It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas in Clarksville, and that feeling is about to get stronger. It’s almost time for the 59th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade, and when you see the floats, hear the music, and view the costumes, you’ll know the holiday season has officially arrived. The parade will roll out at 5 p.m. on Dec. 1. It’ll begin at Austin Peay and go through downtown Clarksville. Participate in the parade to add to the fun, or grab a spot and watch the floats go by.
The deadline for registering to join the parade is Nov. 28. Businesses can register online for $30. They also must bring an unwrapped toy or non-perishable food items that are worth $25. Churches, civic organizations, and city/county offices can also register online. Then, they must bring a $25 unwrapped toy or $25 worth of nonperishable food items to the event.
It’s All About Christmas Spirit – and the Lights
Christmas spirit and holiday lights will be on display at this parade. Schools, businesses, and organizations will ride floats and horses through the streets, with everything decorated in lights. There will also be cars decked out in lights, as well as some people. If you want to participate, you need to get your lights out since there is a minimum requirement for each float, vehicle, and person.
There will also be candy, but it will be a little different this year since it’s a night parade. Throwing candy would be dangerous, so walkers will be armed with candy that they can hand out to spectators. Get a spot in front of the line so you can get some of the sweet stuff.

The Awards
Each entry will have a lot of Christmas spirit, but some people will go all out. They’ll be recognized as they pass the judges’ stand. The stand will be on Public Square, and the judges will award first, second, and third place in multiple categories. Be sure to stick around to find out who wins.
You’re going to see a lot of cool cars in the parade. Don’t you want a cool car of your own? You can get just that at James Corlew Chevrolet in Clarksville, Tennessee. Grab a new set of wheels before the parade. Who knows? You might even want to decorate it with lights and join in the fun.
