CMCSS Teacher of the Year Banquet

CMCSS Teacher of the Year Banquet

If there is one profession that is invaluable to a free-thinking society, it’s that of teachers. Those who dedicate their careers to teaching don’t just go to work and do a job, they mold minds and shape lives. While teaching in itself can be a demanding practice, there are still those who go above and beyond for their students. That’s why the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation holds the Teacher of the Year Banquet. Each year, the school system honors teachers who have outperformed the norm and truly made an impact on students’ lives.

CMCSS Teacher of the Year Banquet 2018

The CMCSS Teacher of the Year Banquet will be held on Feb. 22, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. At this red carpet event, between 250 and 300 teachers will attend to honor those who have shown outstanding dedication to educating students. The location will be CMCSS Central Services South.

This event is to be considered a celebration of the hard work that educators in CMCSS do each year. In fact, the Tennessee State Department of Education announced this January that CMCSS’s graduation rate is 95.1 percent. That’s higher than the average Tennessee graduation rate of 89.1 percent, and it is thanks in no small part to the hard work and determination of the system’s educators.

Goals of the  Program

The Teacher of the Year Program goals are listed below:

  • Promote effective teaching practices by recognizing and rewarding outstanding teachers.
  • Engage regional Teachers of the Year in education policymaking through the Teacher Advisory Council.
  • Encourage participation by every school in the state so that all Tennessee teachers may be recognized and rewarded.
  • Build a network of local and state corporate sponsors.
  • Provide a network for teachers to share effective practices.
  • Encourage a sense of professionalism in teaching.
  • Encourage greater participation in building a strong community-school partnership.
