The museum has a variety of attractions that involve fine art, science, and history. Here’s just a sample of all the incredible things to do this weekend at the Customs House Museum:

Permanent Exhibits at the Customs House Museum

If you’re heading to the museum with the kids, you’ll definitely want to visit the Explorers’ Gallery. It’s got a kid-sized grocery store called McGregor’s Market and a fun-filled bubble exploration area known as Bubble Cave.

Like collectibles? If so, then make sure to visit the Lucy Dunwoody Boehm Porcelain Collection. It features one of the largest collections of porcelain figures in the southeastern United States with dozens of bird and flower figurines.

History buffs will want to visit Becoming Clarksville: Honoring Legacies of Leadership. According to the museum’s website, this exhibit details how “local agriculture, industry, education, culture, government, medicine, military, and transportation have all contributed to the city of today…”

Catch the Temporary Exhibits before They’re Gone

The Customs House Museum is home to regular rotation of temporary exhibits from a wide variety of diverse artists. Sculptures, wood works, and acrylics are just a few of the mediums you’ll find on display at various times during the year.

Check Out the Model Train Collection

The Model Trail Collection at the Heimansohn Gallery offers an interactive experience with one of the largest model layouts in the region. Be sure to also be on the lookout for the museum’s historical railroad poster collection. The trains run every Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Over 20,000 Historical Artifacts & Collectibles

In addition to all the temporary and permanent exhibits, there are over 20,000 historical items that include “art, clothing, tools, toys, photographs, and a variety of other artifacts related to the history of Montgomery County” according to the Custom House Museum’s website.
